Olivia Ryder
Title: Atmospheric Scientist & Program Manager for Kids Making Sense

Olivia is an atmospheric data scientist and the program manager of the Kids Making Sense air quality educational program at Sonoma Technology, an air quality consulting company in California. Olivia’s current projects focus on community monitoring and helping underserved communities with analyzing ambient data, conducting source apportionment assessments, and working with EPA to develop best practices guides for mitigating air pollution in various environments. Olivia has a strong interest in communicating environmental issues across scientific disciplines and to the public through outreach efforts.
She is also a Global Air Quality Fellow for the U.S. Department of State where she provides technical analysis and advisory support to the U.S. Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina on their air quality and climate efforts.
Prior to joining Sonoma Technology Olivia was a researcher at University of California, San Diego where she investigated the role of ocean biology on the chemical composition of sea spray and how that impacts the particles’ ability to interact with gases in the atmosphere.
Olivia holds a Masters and PhD in Chemistry from University of California, San Diego.
